After graduating Mater Cleri in 1972, I attended Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, Louisiana for two years in English Liberal Arts.  I then joined the United States Coast Guard and served at Yorktown, VA, Vicksburg, MS and Grand Isle, LA.   After the Coast Guard, I performed professionally in night clubs as a solo act and traveled mostly throughout the Southern U. S.  I finally settled down and had 3 beautiful children.  Unfortunately, my marriage dissolved after 20 years, however, my ex-wife and I are very good friends still.

I began my current career in 1982 and have been working in the financial sector since.  I moved my family to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1984 and have been here since.  I am an independent financial consultant and have been blessed with a great degree of success in this area.

I have also been blessed to have 3 healthy, happy adult children and two beautiful, healthy grandchildren.   My oldest daughter, Kateri, is 23 and has  a 3 year old son.  My middle daughter, Cheramie, has a 2 year old daughter and my son, Ryland, has no children at this time.

I re-married in 1996 and have been happy beyond my wildest dreams!   It truly makes a difference when Jesus Christ is at the center of all you do.  My wife, Heidi, led me to the Lord with kindness and love.  I had always taken a great deal of pride in the fact that I had grown up rough.  If you recall, I never went home over holidays at Mater Cleri.  I was always with the families of my classmates.  My eternal thanks goes out to all of you who opened your hearts and homes to me during those years.  There is still some pain associated with those years and perhaps someday I'll be able to share some of my feelings about those times.  Anyway,  God knew that the way to deal with me was not to knock me down or have me hit bottom.  I'm just stubborn enough to have really alienated myself from Him.  Instead, He sent a soft, quiet, loving, beautiful, precious angel to show me kindness, tenderness and love.

My angel is Heidi.  We joined Old Cheney Alliance Church here in Lincoln shortly after we were married in 1996.  To further illustrate her gentle spirit, she and my ex-wife are friends and we share Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays etc.... with her.  The children and grandchildren love her dearly (sometimes I think more than they love me!).  We are active in our church.   We teach Sunday School classes, I sing during services and we serve in wherever and whenever the Lord leads.  I have been trying to be still and listen a little closer to the Lord these days.  I had the opportunity of a lifetime in January 2000 when I traveled with 10 other Christian and Missionary Alliance team members to Gueckedou, Guinea Africa on a 3 week short term mission trip.  We built the roof to a small church in the tiny village of Bawa.  If any of you are interested, I have some great pictures of the trip and would love to share them with you.

Any of you who remember me from school will recall I was as thin as a rail back then.  At age 30, I had gained a little weight.   I was up to 285 lbs and was borderline high blood pressure.  The doctor told me to get it together so I started working out.  In 6 weeks I was down to 195 lbs and I have been lifting weights 5 days a week since that time (17 years).  I'm now at about 230 lbs and folks tell me I'm big enough and in good enough shape to play linebacker of the Nebraska Cornhuskers.  Fat chance!  I do go to all the games, though, and cheer with the best of them.  If you ever watch us play on TV, look for me in the stands.  I'm the one wearing red!

I feel like I rambling so I'll close for now.  I look forward to getting re-acquainted all of you in the future.  I have been so energized by the discovery of this website and becoming reconnected to all of you.

God bless all of you.  Please know that you are in our prayers daily now!

Steve
