Biography of Rex Elliott
After completing his sophomore year at Mater Cleri in 1974, Rex Elliott finished high school in his hometown of Richland, Washington. He completed a Bachelor of Public Administration degree, magna cum laude, in 1981 from Seattle University, and a Master of Arts in Public Policy degree in 1983 from the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Rex then began working for NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland through the Presidential Management Internship Program. For twenty-five years, Rex continued working at Goddard in a variety of positions in the fields of procurement and human resources. In august 2008, rex transferred to NASA headquarters where he is the contractor industrial relations officer, helping ensure NASA complies with all labor laws affecting contractor employees.
Rex now lives in Laurel, Maryland with his wife Denise and two daughters Rachel (21) and Melanie (20). Rachel will soon be graduating from the University of Maryland in elementary education, hoping to begin teaching in a local elementary school. Melanie will soon graduate from Mary Baldwin College with a degree in theater, hoping to participate in various theatrical performances before continuing graduate studies. Due to health reasons, Denise gave up a career in parish pastoral ministry, but operates a small business providing pet care (Pino’s Pampered Pets). The family attends St. Anthony’s parish in Washington, DC. Denise continues to lector and visit sick and shut-ins. Rex is a lector and Sunday school teacher in the parish and involved in various other activities. The family lives happily with their assorted animals in the suburbs of DC.
